JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth)The JOY consists of members of the youth from ages 5 to 12 or up to the 6th grade,who are baptized and Chrismated according to the rites of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Children within this goup may register by completing a registration form or calling the church office at 914-963-3638. The Activities of the group vary from social to religious. There a Religious activities held throughout the year including attending church services, recieving Communion, attending Sunday School and serving the Altar. The Social Activities vary from athletics, to field trips, and art and craft projects. We encourage the Parents to bring their children and register them to take part of these meaningful activities.
GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America)
The GOYA consists of members of the youth from ages 13 to 18 or 7th grade to 12th Grade who have been baptized and chrismated under the Rite of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Young adults within this goup may register by completing a registration form or calling the church office at 914-963-3638. This Organization is directed by Officers which are elected by the members of the GOYA every year in October. The GOYA is supervised by the parents and always under the spiritual guidance of the Priest. The GOYA of Prophet Elias hosts a range of activities from Social to Spiritual. During the year the youth has the oppurtunity to host events such as dances, field trips, Athletic programs and other Social events. They also take part in Spiritual activities such as attending Church Services, Religious Retreats, Holy Communion and Confession.
We encourage all members of this age group to take part in the various activities that are offered by the GOYA. We also encourage parents to take part in the GOYA by supervising and assisting the GOYA with their activities. For more information on the parental role of the GOYA please click here.
YAL (Young Adult League)
The YAL consists of members ages 18 to 35 or first year of college to 35 years of age. This organization is not limited to single young Adults, married and unmarried young adults are welcome to join the YAL. The purpose of this organization is to offer them the opportunity to participate in the activities of the church both social and religious. At the same time to initiate new activities and programs for the promotion of the Orthodox traditions and Hellenic Culture. This group offers everyone the opportunity to be introduced to the various organizations of the church and eventually assist the other organizations such as the Parish Council, Philoptochos. They will also have the opportunity to Chair Activities, such as the festival, annual dance and most importantly to volunteer their time and talent to the church.
